Session Information for Potential Speakers


NSH is now accepting abstracts for consideration to be presented for the 47th Annual NSH Convention.  The Convention will be a three day virtual event September 14-16, 2021.  The event will include general sessions, workshops, learning labs & express talks.  NSH is seeking education that covers all aspects of histotechnology in both clinical and research settings.

SESSION FORMATS

This year NSH is offering three session format options for presenters. Submit today!

60 Minute Lecture/Workshop: 60 minute slots that are typically 45 minutes of lecture with 15 minutes for Q/A. These are prerecorded, but you will be present to answer questions when it airs live on the virtual convention platform. Allows for polling before and after your content is presented. You can also utilize chat to engage with the audience during the presentation.

Express Talks: 15 minute live talks focusing on a key topic like a troubleshooting tip, your favorite management tools like a spreadsheet template, a training strategy you use for staff, or even demonstrate a technique that you can’t live without, or any other awesome idea you might have.

Learning Labs: “Learning by doing,” Learning Labs presenters will work with NSH to develop interactive and/or hands-on trainings that attendees can do from their own labs or in small breakout rooms. Topics might include image analysis sessions with attendees using their own devices, leadership development topics that involve role playing, or scenario groups, or even “try it at home kits” for staining techniques.

EDUCATION TRACKS

To create a diverse program NSH is seeking sessions in the following categories. Submit today!

Laboratory Operations - Topics concerning lab safety procedures and personal safety measures including ergonomics, and covering topics dealing with government regulations, quality assurance/control & improvement. 
Leadership Development- Topics in this area cover leadership development, laboratory operations & management, and soft skills training such as histotechnology training/certification, resume writing, career advancement, and job search.  This category also includes topics for those working in or seeking to increase their knowledge in personnel management
Imaging & Analysis - Topics covering the acquisition, management and interpretation of pathology information generated from a digitized glass slide.
IHC & Molecular - Topics related to immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, molecular pathology including ISH, CISH, and FISH, and related procedures. 
General Anatomic Pathology - Topics related to histotechnology methods, techniques and theory -  including troubleshooting, staining methods, lab techniques, gross pathology, equipment and refresher topics.  This category also covers niche topics such as Mohs, EM, Tissue Array’s, Laser Capture Microscopy, Flow Cytometry and more
