Micro-Volunteering Opportunities

Micro-volunteering Opportunities

If you don't have time to participate year-round in a committee, you can still get involved with NSH by engaging in a micro-volunteering opportunity. Click here to sign up for one of the opportunities below.

Contribute to NSH's Blog

NSH's blog, Fixation on Histology, shares articles written by members on a variety of topics ranging from personal stories in the lab, troubleshooting advice, research, CLIA regulations, and more. Write just one article or become a regular contributor.

Make Welcome Calls to New Members

Make welcome calls to new members, offering them a friendly contact to reach out to with questions. Share why you got involved and point new members towards the benefits that are most relevant to their interests and career goals.

Develop Posts for Social Media

NSH interacts with histotechs on social media through our Facebook company pageFacebook Histology Professionals GroupTwitterLinkedInInstagram and YouTube. NSH is seeking members to help us develop content for social media that engages, inspires and entertains our histology community. This includes histology themed memes, pictures and videos of histology, and personal stories from our members.

Contribute to a Podcast

Do you have tips and tricks that you would like to share with other histotechs? Sign up to participate in a podcast episode in the HistoHelp series, where members provide solutions to common and uncommon histology problems.

Create Quiz Questions

NSH members can earn free CEUs through quizzes in NSH’s publications such as NSH In Action and the Journal of Histotechnology. We need volunteers who can write histology questions for these short quizzes every quarter.

Create an Infographic

Share your knowledge about a histology topic in a downloadable infographic that will be posted in the resource library on The Block.

Contribute to Position Papers

In 2018, NSH responded to a request for information on laboratory personnel requirements. NSH was then invited to attend meetings of CLIAC(Clinical Laboratory Improvement Advisory Committee) where we recommended that histology should be recognized under CLIA. This is the beginning of what will be a long campaign. We need volunteers to contribute their voice to these written statements.
