Mohs Hands-On Technician Training

Starts:  May 16, 2019 08:00 (ET)
Ends:  May 17, 2019 17:00 (ET)

NSH has partnered with Beck Consulting to bring a hands-on, intense training session in a Mohs lab. During this training techs will understand the Mohs process and complete procedure of processing tissue.  This will cover all the necessary documentation and technical aspects in the lab. This training will assist them in preparing for an inspection process.  It will start by discussing the necessary regulations expected by CLIA. We will be reviewing the proficiency testing, quality assurance and quality control programs required.

During the workshop techs will be allowed to review imperfect slides, discuss the stain and section quality. The tech should be able to identify thick sections, uneven staining, and poor fixation causing poor cellular structure. Freeze artifact and autolysis of tissue from poor processing and drying out of specimens. We will point out how nicks in the blade can cause tissue to compress. Upon completion, the tech will be able to trouble shoot their own slides in their lab. Produce rapid high quality Mohs sections. Come spend an enjoyable and informative 2 days with fellow technicians in a supportive and stimulating atmosphere.
