PolySciences, Inc. sponsors this $1000 award on a reimbursement basis. Receipts for all expenses (i.e., books, tuition, registration fees, travel, subscriptions, exams, etc.) must be sent to the NSH office for reimbursement. This award will be presented each year that a nominee/applicant has been selected. The award recipient will be recognized at the awards banquet during the annual NSH Symposium/ Convention.
Award Criteria:
This award will be given annually to a qualified applicant who has excelled in working with calcified/decalcified bone, other materials such as stents in vascular research or bioengineering development. The specimens can be human or animal in origin. This award will support educational or professional certification programs that are intended to:
- Enhance techniques and methods presently utilized in the nominee’s institution, and/or
- Support the study of new techniques under consideration for adoption in the nominee’s laboratory, and/or
- Support continuing education or certification.
The Awards committee will choose the recipient based on working achievement and/or academic merit. The award can be used for continuing education endeavors.
Applicants must submit the following to the Awards Committee:
- A recommendation from the candidate’s research institute, laboratory, pathologist, supervisor, fellow employees or administrator.
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae.
- Confidential written evaluation on the applicant/nominee by his/her supervisor, pathologist, or department chairperson, as to the applicant’s suitability as the recipient of this award.
- Plans for utilization of this award. Plans must be utilized within two (2) years after the scholarship is presented.
