36th Annual Symposium/Convention Volunteer Opportunities

The S/C is a large event & requires all hands on deck to be successful.  Volunteering is a great way to get involved in NSH & be a part of NSH’s premier educational event.  If you are able to assist in any of the following positions please email the contact person listed so that you can be added to the schedule.

Volunteer Timeline

  • May 1, 2010 – August 20, 2010 - Accepting Volunteer Request Emails
  • September 3, 2010 - Assignments Emailed to Volunteers
  • September 8, 2010 - Volunteer Participation Forms Due

Are you looking for a fun way to spend your Monday of the convention? Well how about considering educating 125 High School students on what exactly you do each day?

On Monday September 27, 2010 NSH will be hosting its 2010 Career Day from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.  We need volunteers for the AM session (8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and the PM session (12:00 PM to 3:00 PM).  Participants can o volunteer for one session or both sessions.  Volunteers will work at lab stations to demonstrate grossing, embedding, cutting, staining, and coverslipping.  In addition volunteers will work with kids at a microscope to look at their completed slides.  The event also includes an "expert" panel for a Q& A session detailing the different areas of histology.  If this sounds like something you would love to be a part of include that in your email.  Volunteers are asked to attend a brief training session on Sunday September 26th after the lecture series at 9:45am

The NSH registration desk is a great way to see old friends & meet new ones as you greet and check in S/C attendees, speakers and exhibitors.  The Convention Committee is looking for volunteers to work on:
Friday, September 24 (10am – 6pm)
Saturday, September 25 (7am – 5pm)
Sunday, September 26 (7am – 5pm)
Monday, September 27 (7am – 5pm)
Tuesday, September 28 (7am – 2pm)

Workshop Ambassadors

Workshop Ambassadors are essential to the success of our workshops.  Ambassadors are responsible for distributing handouts, collecting workshop tickets for contact hours and course evaluations.  Ambassadors serve in workshops they are already attending and work as the liaison to the Convention Committee Workroom – ensuring everything goes as planned. Ambassadors receive a $97.50 check following the convention.  If you wish to serve as an Ambassador please email Aubrey , aubrey@nsh.org , .  Assignments will be emailed in September.
