NSH Teleconference: Overview of Spriochete Stains
Date:
26 Jan 2011 Presented by Robert L. Lott, BS, HTL(ASCP), Trinity Medical Center, Birmingham, AL Anyone who has worked with and performed the silver impregnation techniques for the demonstration of spirochetes in tissue sections is familiar with just how capricious they can be. However, with optimized technique and special emphasis on control material, these methods can be mastered. It’s not as difficult as it may seem. This teleconference will cover the various techniques (e.g., Steiner and Steiner, Warthin-Starry, Dieterle), the theory of spirochete silver staining, and trouble-shooting these stains.
