NSH Teleconference: Clone Wars: Muridae vs Leporidae (Are You Team Mouse or Team Rabbit?)
Date:
22 Jun 2011 Presented by Jeff Gordon, BS, Cell Marque, Rocklin, CA
In the universe of Immunohistochemistry, the world of primary antibodies has been dominated by two animals: mice and rabbits. Their stronghold has been evident with the domination of their two classes: mouse monoclonal and rabbit polyclonal. However, a new class, rabbit monoclonal, has arrived and is spreading its influence in the IHC world. Is this new class of antibody a welcome addition, or a deceptive ruse? We will discuss the aspects of all three major classes of antibody currently dominating the diagnostic and research IHC world, and where their standings and futures are in this field of biotechnology.
