Our world of IHC has become more and more automated as the years go by. As techs we rely on instrumentation to help us get our work done. Unfortunately we have learned how to run instrumentation and forgotten, or never learned the basics. When things don’t work right, or we want to develop new tests, we have to know the theory, processes and methodology around IHC to get things done. This lecture will cover the basics, including the influences of fixation and processing, pretreatments, antibodies, detection, and counterstains. During this wet workshop, you will go on a journey thru the staining an IHC slide from start to finish. Along the way we will discuss each step, including theory, practices, processes, options and troubleshooting. This will be a fun workshop for techs just learning, as well as a great review for those who have been doing IHC for a long time.
