Histotechnology Professionals Day Free Teleconference Sign Up

In celebration of Histotechnology Professionals Day, NSH along with our Professional Development Partners will offer a FREE teleconference for NSH members and their labs.  Continuing education is one of the best investments you can make in your career. We are taking this opportunity to give back to you as professionals and members.

Members will earn 1 free contact hour for attending. Non-members will not receive credit for this event, however are welcome to participate by listening to the material being presented.

 The Person Behind the Specimen

This workshop is designed to give an insider’s view to the person behind the specimen.  Histotechs are not often given the opportunity to witness a patient’s fight against cancer.  Once a specimen has been processed and a pathology diagnosis has been made, the histotech may not be aware of the consequences for the patient.  Tom Wieser candidly shares his battle with colon cancer while balancing his work and home life.  This lecture will consist of discussion of the disease process of cancer, initial symptoms, surgery/biopsy, IHC panels, staging/grading process of diagnosis, FDA-approved therapeutics, and clinical trial participation.  Honest interviews with Tom, along with his personal photo journals, give us the intimate details of his initial diagnosis through mind-numbing rounds of therapy.   

Individual members must be on sign in sheet to recieve their contact hour, however only one individual from each lab need call in on the day of the teleconference. Your teleconference packet will be emailed to you on Wednesday, February 29.
